Symantec Backup Exec Job stays Queued - Backup to USB Disk:



Scenario:

When run a backup job to a USB disk, scheduled backup gets stuck in "Queued" status, even though there is enough space on disk and you have run inventory on disk. Here what you need to fix it. This resolution came after two years of hair pulling experience.

Resolutions:

You must perform the following steps in EXACT order :

- Delete everything inside the backup folder on the USB disk.
- Run Inventory (Inventory might fail but that is OK).
- Restart Backup Exec Services.
- Run Inventory again.
- (step might be neccesary) Move all backup media from "All Media" to "Media Set 1" or whatever media set defined in the backup job

Schedule backup Job should fine now. You can automate this procedure through batch files and Windows scheduler. If you need help with that please email us at info@bostonIT.com and we will send you instuctions.
