How to rebuild and restore Windows 7 corrupt icons cache and properties.

Windows 7 icons might loss characteristics and display like a general icon with no image on the shortcut. In some occasions, it's been reported that when installing/Uninstalling Visual Studio, Windows icons could display incorrectly just like an icon that has no properties.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and go and under Windows Processes end Explorer.exe process.

Click File and choose New Task. Type cmd.exe and hit OK to open up Command Line.

Type cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local

Type attrib -a -h -r -s IconCache.db

Hit enter

Type del IconCache.db

Hit enter

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and from File menu and choose New Task. Type Explorer.exe. Hit enter. Icons will be restored.
